Press releases about Hidden Automatic Navigator and H+H Software GmbH.

H+H Software GmbH, producer of the e-resource management software "Hidden Automatic Navigator" (HAN), and the Head Office of the GBV Common Library Network work closely together in the provision of national licences.

The German Research Foundation promotes the provision of digital media for scientists, students and interested private individuals in the form of national licenses. VZG is responsible for the operation of the technical system and access to these media for private individuals. Institutions and private individuals must register for use and select individual databases.

VZG as the system operator changed its access and rights management in 2018 and now relies on the Hidden Automatic Navigator - HAN solution. This solution offers sophisticated management for access to electronic media and is interoperable with regard to user account queries.

For national licenses, the Shibboleth method is used for authentication and authorization of individuals. HAN supports Shibboleth and can therefore securely evaluate the authorizations. With Shibboleth, users enjoy a very high level of data protection and the convenience of Single Sign On (SSO).

Michael Etscheid, Managing Director of H+H Software GmbH: "The challenge in the provision of national licences is to link different systems and actors with each other in order to optimise literature and text research for users. HAN offers a convenient management system for this and integrates discovery systems, link-out and other identity providers such as Shibboleth".

Gerald Steilen, head of the Discovery Systems department in the Head Office of the GBV Common Library Network, adds: "Up to now it has been difficult to arrange and implement necessary individual adaptations for our users. With H+H Software GmbH as the provider of HAN, this is completely different. In addition to geographical proximity, support is also well organised. Enquiries are processed quickly and reliably and implemented successfully with us".

Hidden Automatic Navigator from H+H Software Now Includes Direct Linking to EBSCO Discovery Service™

EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and H+H Software GmbH, the producer of the e-resource management software Hidden Automatic Navigator (HAN), announce a new partnership to provide expanded services to mutual customers. The partnership will enable mutual customers of EBSCO Discovery Service™ (EDS) and HAN to access content in a more seamless and simplified method.

With the new partnership between, authorized library users will be able to access their library’s online resources, including EDS, from any location, including remotely. The integration partnership enables HAN to authenticate the user via the library system or Shibboleth independently from the location and provides access to articles. HAN uses an own proxy URL for each resource. By using the new HAN Web-API, the proxy URLs can now be retrieved automatically in the background, creating a more simplified way for users to access content and reducing the library’s administrative effort.

H+H Software GmbH Managing Director, Michael Etscheid says: "The linking of HAN to EBSCO Discovery Service is a great enhancement for users. From now on, libraries are able to offer remote access to the content in EDS without any additional effort. This optimally combines the advantages of both systems. The statistical reports that can be created with HAN will also help libraries to further improve their offer."

EBSCO Information Services Senior Manager, Library Service Engineering, Europe & Latin America, Claus Wolf says "This development shows how fast and flexible EBSCO can respond to customer requirements with the help of its Library Service Engineers. We greatly appreciate the collaboration with H+H Software GmbH as we have been able to drive the integration forward so libraries can take advantage of the benefits of both services."
